2009!

It's 2009, time to make those New Years resolutions that noone really intends to keep. If you are interested here are our New Years Resolutions waiting to be broken for 2009:

* Be more organized
* Loose weight at be healthier
* Wipe out at least one nasty debt
* Save more money

Gee, aren't those the basics for almost everyone on the planet? Okay, lets make some more entertaining ones...

* Spend more time with good friends
* Laugh more
* Screw the tight budget- we're going on more (nicer) dates
* Realize "family" means just US and out DOGS- and put those groups FIRST
*Focus on what we want, not what we feel obligated to do

...Just Like HRD!

One of Sarah's goal is life is to be like her dad. Without being a scary X-Marine of course!

He is an extremely educated man, having worked his way to earning a bunch of Masters Degrees (we're not sure the count, we'll have to ask later).

Sarah just added to her degree count herself, and that's one step closer to being like her dad, one small step for education, and of course the reason for this post.

Also Sarah is currently Student-Loan Free...take THAT economy!

Adopted Frank
Sarah got hired in her actual field, and still decided to do more schooling
Adopted Penny

Yupp...we're pretty boring even for an old married couple.

Official Best Buy Black Friday Video

You can see us only in short bits:

1:00-1:06
it scans a close up of Quinn, Vincent, then Sarah
You see a limo pull up and Sarah says "our limo is here...yay"

1:15-1:22
A hard to see Sarah in a dark limo
Sarah says, "I was on Best Buy's Black Friday website and I was like- Essay contest! We can TOTALLY do that"

2:38-2:41 (blink and you'll miss it!)
Sarah runs into the Best buy Store, looks over her shoulder to see where Vincent and Quinn are, and keeps running while waving a Best Buy flag...looking like a dork. (Notice the cute black trench coat, yay!)

4:03-4:06
Sarah holding up her giftcard saying "I love this giftcard- it's going in the scrapbook!" You can see Vincent next to her filming from the other side with his new Flip Camcorder (another prize!)

4:39-4:43
As the winner's name scroll you can see "Sarah, Denver" That's OUR Sarah!

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

It's been a tough year for everyone down here, and we're willing to bet the North Pole has also been hit hard by the current economy. More elves than their are jobs for, cost of cookies going up? But at least you feed can feed your reindeer to get around, our cars guzzel up overpriced gasoline! We're not asking for much this Christmas, but just incase you got all those memos from people saying how good we've both been heres some of the things we could use this season.

Vincent:

A Toaster. Yes, we've been married for two years and we still don't have one of these. We've been microwaving our poptarts and toaster strudels.

Socks. Plain, White, stink-free (he can add that feature on his own!), and big because Vincent is secretly Big Foot in disguise.

Sarah:

Slipper Socks. Our floors are both slippery and cold. Solve both problems in one easy step!

Storage racks for food storage in the garage. With all this super-couponing we do we're running out of space in our small kitchen cupboards.

Olie and Frank:
"Please donate to the Humane Society. We have everything we need from a full sized bed the humans keep insisting is theirs but we know better, endless snuggles and attention, and lots of treats. Other dogs aren't as lucky."

Penny: "I want attention. All your attention. And I want it NOW!"

***disclaimer: This isn't a gimmee gimme post, this is to let those who asked (mainly, Moo) what we'd like. They asked, so we answered.

Our New Neice!

Eric and Erin (Sarah's brother-in-law and sister) just added a new member to our family! And yes I'm talking about a puppy- in our family dogs count just as much as people, especially when no one has kids. (Dogs are the new kids ya know!)

Introducing the adorable Midori:

This is a good photo of Erin as well. Shes on the left if you were wondering.

Isn't she just the cutest? Moo thinks she looks like a Manatee, haha! We just want to squish her little face and cuddle her all up!

Best Buy pt. 3

Yay my BFF-slash is coming with us now. At first she wasn't but then she decided its more fun to hang out with us than Rod (her boyfriend) This is Quinn.
Quinn likes to eat Cauliflower and drink diet Pepsi. She's also kinda my boss, which makes it so I have to listen to her..sometimes.

BestBuy Blackfriday pt. 2

The camcorders arrived via FedEx this morning.-two tiny and cute flip ultra something video things. One is ours to keep and one is to record the events of Black Friday for Bestbuys PR usage and such. Oh and the giftcard came- that glorious $1,000 Best Buy gift card! I called the phone number to check the balance and really enjoyed hearing the monotone recorded voice say "one-THOUSAND-dollars" (insert Dr. Evil's voice for dramatic effect!)

Tomorrow night we leave for our hotel in Denver. Then we're getting picked up by our super duper limo at 3:15 AM ~ Yeah baby! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Holy batman under the mistletoe! We are SO EXCITED! And here is the essay for anyone who cares to read it.

To some Valentines Day is the holiday for love- but for me and my husband Black Friday is what brings out the sweethearts in us! Our first date was spent waiting in line outside Best Buy during Black Friday 2003. Six years later we're still acting like the love-struck college students by making Black Friday at Best Buy an annual tradition and date.
We wake up extremely early every Black Friday energized with thoughts of half-off sugar plums dancing in our heads. To make the day special we start off with my homemade pumpkin waffles and hot cocoa, the breakfast of deal-chasing champions. We revisit that first Black Friday date by wearing the same winter coats and matching scarves we did six years ago, now faded with time, but still protecting us from the cold. Cuddled together, we patiently wait outside in the blistering cold for stores to open. We always ask another Black Friday fan to capture the moment with our camera adding to the yearly pictures we have collected from Black Friday that decorated our mantel throughout the year.
While some women may prefer their husbands in tight tank tops running on a beach, nothing says “hubba hubba” like my husband in his clunky snow boots weaving his way through a crowd, trying to reach for that must-have gadget of the season. Black Friday is the day we celebrate our tradition, our love, and hopefully finally grabbing the last Nintendo Wii off the shelf!

Its Begining to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

So the weather outside isn't frightful, and there is no snow here to be delightful... but its time for a Christmas-y themed blog anyway. we're ready for the season, aren't all of you? With all the talk of a poor economy, the war, the election and all its trash talk- we're ready for some peaceful times coming up.

This year we will be enjoying the season with the people we love the most- each other! from Dec 23rd - Jan 1 we won't be reachable. We're taking the phone off the hook, cutting the wires to the doorbell, and letting ourselves be snowed in (literally hopefully!).

And to add to the joyous things happening in December:

Almost 1/2 through November!

We looked at the calendar this morning and saw that we are really far into November. Yes, you read that correctly- we said November! It will soon be Thanksgiving, and black Friday, and then the end of Sarah's fall semester and teacher aiding for the year- not to mention that one big December holiday!

Our Halloween decorations got taken down this weekend, they were only inside the house so we're not one of those neighbors. We are, however playing Christmas music in the house already. That is one of the joys of being independent adults- we can listen to whatever silly music we want anytime we want and no one can complain because *we* pay the utilities. Of course, the paying the utilities is not a fun part of being an adult.

I wonder when we'll get the Christmas decorations up? It won't be this weekend but we will most likely start before Thanksgiving if we get the chance.

~Happy Halloween~

Does Halloween loose some sparkle once you grow older? Not grown-up, just grown-older. There aren't very many Halloween fans around here where we live. It is a mix of people our age taking their kids trick-or-treating or people our age going to parties that we would NEVER go to. Our idea of a good Halloween party does not include drinking, more drinking, and bad music that is way too loud and has more swear words than a drunken sailor. Its hard to find a spooky good time when you're an inbetweener, no kids but too old to attend stupid frat-like parties.

I had a quarter-life crisis (is that what you call it?) and so my "BFF" and I decided to go trick or treating. This was a plan from a few weeks ago and I think we were just waiting for the other to change the plans, but we secretly both wanted to hold onto that little piece of childhood fun. Yes, we were THOSE people who go trick or treating and are way to old to be doing so. It wasn't about the free candy (unless you ask Quinn, she'll tell you it was ALL about the candy) but just having a good innocent time. We wore appropriate (ie not slutty) costumes- real costumes I had in my costume trunk, none of that adults-trying-to-be-cheap stuff. No one asked us our ages (24 and 30), questioned us in any way, and to my total surprise and shock everyone smiled and gave us candy like we were in fact an appropriate age. And maybe they did think we were younger, not to brag but we both look and sound a lot younger than we are (this is why you wear sunscreen kids), and in the right costume/makeup I'd like to think maybe we did fool a few people.

Vince drove us around and put up with us being crazier than normal. Who knew being one of THOSE people could be so fun? I remember when I was little some college kids came trick-or-treating to our door with no costume but a bra on their heads telling us they were "boobs". Mom gave them our rejected-candy pile (wouldn't you?). This is what I was expecting all night, thank you Coloradians for playing along!

HIGHLIGHT of the night~ going to my in-laws house to trick-or-treat in masks. My friend and I went to the door and said trick-or-treat and were REALLY rude. "None of that cheap stuff, please" when my mother in law was getting the bowl. Then she held the bowl out for us to take some- BIG MISTAKE! We took the biggest handful we could manage each, and then took ANOTHER big handful- the look on her face was priceless! She pulled the bowl away from us and said "okay, thats enough happy Halloween" trying to be the nice polite lady she is. We then walked to the side of her house, switched masks, and rang the doorbell again- this time with Vince in a costume as well. (switch masks, add a person- they will never catch on, right?) Needless to say she looked horrified to see us again and this time handed us each a piece of candy instead of letting us do it ourselves. I asked "Can I have some more candy?" and at this point I'm sure she wanted to take ALL my candy away or slam the door in my face. Vince pulled off his mask and asked "How about ME, can I have some more candy?" Then we all pulled off our masks. I don't know if her smile and laugh was out of joy for seeing her kids, or relief that it was a joke and no strange kids were being that snotty to her. I'm so thankful my mother in law is such a sweet woman to put up with our silliness- while my Mom is as bad as I am and if I pulled a snotty trick like that on her I could expect something twice as bad back somehow I'm sure (where do you think I learned it?).

Now that Halloween is officially over our house is now filled with Christmas music. Yes, we are THOSE kinds of people to!

Totally Uninspiring Weekend

Its a Totally Uninspiring Weekend! I don't feel like doing anything- hooray! I've thought about doing some laundry, "haunting" the house for Halloween, making Halloween cards- or even Christmas cards early. But no, I'm going to lay on the bed with my pug and my laptop and enjoy the greatness of doing nothing. Ahhhhh weekends!

Guess what we're doing for Sarah's big 2-5?!

okay, so its many months away- but we know what we're doing for Sarah's 25th Birthday.

WE STILL get goosebumps! Can't wait! Also next theater season we plan on seeing Rent, Wicked (ON HALLOWEEN 09!), and maybe Spamalot. But Phantom...its PHANTOM!

Penny the LampShade Doggie

Our little Penny is officially grown up now... which means we are getting her fixed today. I'll save you the "spay and neuter your pets" message- but its better for your dogs if you aren't going to breed them, especially females.

I'll update this post later this evening when I have a photo of her in her stylish cone collar. Aww.. our own furry lamp! She's REALLY hyper this morning...little does she know where she will be going in about 1/2 an hour!

To dye for!

I changed my hair for Autumn. I really like the darker color. No more blonde jokes, and I look more devilish! (not that I needed the help there). I should have smiled in this quick Imac shot but whatever.

I'm just glad for once my eyebrows don't stick out as much saying "Brooke Sheilds has nothing on these brows, baby!". They match lovely, don't they? And hey- you can tell I have two of them! Yay for tweezers.

So whatcha think? Good, bad. ugly? Well it doesn't matter that much what YOU think, because *I* like it.

We Will Never Forget... (9/11)

9/11 was something many of us will never forget. I remember everything from that day.
I could go into details about where I was, even what I was wearing. I saw the first plane's hit damage on the news while at home, and the second live when I was in early-morning before school yearbook class. However, these sights aren't what I remember most.

I was a senior in highschool obsessed with art. In class my art teacher was trying to calm everyone down and told us to draw/paint our feeling about this event. She said it would be one of the most emotional things we would go through in our young years. She put on the radio as background music. Every single station was filled with reports of what had happened, opinions, news, recaps you name it. There was no music found anywhere. After much fussing the radio finally produced music- The song title I don't know but everyone will reconize the song I'm sure.

"I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free and I won't forget the men who died who gave this right to me. And I proudly stand up next to you and defend her still today. Because there ain't no doubt I love this land. God bless the U.S.A."

This is my memory of 9/11. You couldn't escape what happened, you couldn't avoid the news. The song and the sniffeling that went along with it as everyone sat in silence. This song will always be 9/11 to me.

Cleaning is boring.

We cleaned out our garage today. It was terribly exciting, oh yes. Now that the thrill of decluttering is over I just don't know what to do with myself. Yay for Sundays. Oh I also cut coupons and got them organized in my binder. This post should be proof that we live really entertaining lives.

More Puppy Pics!

Tummy Rub Please?

Smiley Profile Shot

"I'm sorry I piddled in your shoe!"

Olie Cuddling Up with "That Small Thing"

This is why we love Frank!

Rub a Dub Dub, Puppy in da tub!

Going Fishin?

Finally pulled these off my camera. Sorry Erin and Mom that it took me so long.

PENNY LOVES FISHES CAUSE THEYRE SO DELICIOUS... *sing along*
Then Frank decided this was a good idea and found a CornPops Box...

And so PETA doesn't come after me- these boxes were empty and left out so Penny could chew them since cardboard is her destruction of choice while cutting teeth. After they decided to put their heads in we took them away (well after the photos)

CHAOS!

So right now our house is suffering from CHAOS- aka Cant Have Anyone Over Syndrome. (isn't that a funny term, I love it!) With our new schedules the house gets neglected and we (which always means just me of course) need some serious cleaning up to go down this weekend. But aha- those germ monsters I work with (Toddlers and preschoolers) decided to share for once and I got a head cold.

Anyone out there want to come clean my house for me? Please? I made seven layer dip awhile ago and just found it hiding in the back of the fridge. Ew! Wait, I don't remember it being a 10 layer dip... TRIPLE EW!

But at least I have some mega inspiration to clean- Katie is coming to visit! YAY!

(I learned a new word today "schtupping"..oh my!)

NOW VINCES TURN:

Vince needs a makeover. What the hell is up with the socks?
(HAHAHA this one is my favorite... yeah what IS up with his socks?)

-okay hope someone else got a kick out of this. So post a comment what does google say YOU need?

Air Mattress Puppies

We have moved into our basement due to the heat. It also doesn't hurt that our basement is a theater room with a big screen television set. We set up an air mattress to sleep on- and the dogs enjoy it more than we do.

Throughout the day we will constantly find Olie hiding under the blankets on the air mattress taking a cold little snooze to escape the afternoon heat.

Frank thinks the bed is a trampoline and will run across the couches and leap onto the air matress. 3 bounces is his current record. He's our little acrobatic clown!

Penny likes to sit on the bed when we inflate it and watch the bed rise around her, then ends up rising herself of course (hey shes barely 5lbs).

We just enjoy a nights sleep that is comfortably chilly and not sweating hot and miserable. I must admit the puppy-sleepover snuggles aren't so bad either. Photos coming soonish. I would like to put a video of Pennys bed-rising as well.

Congrats, peoples!

Some of our different friends have recently told us they are expecting. Aww, congrats to you all.
(Better you than us..hahaha suckers!)

Quack said the dog?

We bought this Easter ducky hat for Olie and it never fit him, and it barely fit Frank when we adopted him. However, third times a charm and it fit Penny perfectly. She's learning that we will constantly dress her up for our own amusement, poor thing. Olie was of course jealous, so we let him wear his bumblebee outfit for a day. That dog loves to be a bumblebee and I will never understand why.

It's Video Time!

We noticed another blogger had videos on her blog so we thought- "why not put our videos of Penny our new puppy up"? So here it is. And hopefully the blog will soon be filled with more photos AND videos. Enjoy!

Three Dog Night..and day.. and forever :D

We now have 3 adorable pups instead of just two. First was Olie the pointer, then Frank da pug, and now we have a new little girl named Penny. She is a pure-bred Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
