Radio Contest!

I just won a trivia contest on the radio! Woohoo- these things NEVER happen to me, or anyone around me. Okay, I'm a dirty liar when I was little my sister and I won some things from "The Imagination Station for Kids" She won tickets once to Sesame Street on Ice, and I won a Free Willy Gift Pack when the movie came out. However, that was many years ago. I have been trying to win a free vacation from the station "A vacation give away a day in the month of may"! But no, I did not win a vacation this was a different contest. I did win a gift card to an eatery that we like to go to however. AND I was on the RADIO. I'm famous now, hehe. Go ahead and brag you all know me and read my blog- I'd brag to if I was in your shoes.

I'm on my way to work in a few minutes, its my first day of the job AND the first day of my new classes AND I get to ride the big scary bus with scary people. Good times!

New Fun Music On Blog..

We have a new playlist on the blog-hoorah! Our tast in music covers a very wide spectrum but we just let whatever our mood was decide the current list. Various selections came from the Across the Universe soundtrack (fantastic beatles songs), The Rent soundtrack (addicting!), Our wedding song, the Wicked soundtrack (great book), and I threw in a song by Meatloaf because he makes me giggle. If I had my way, which I technically do, I would put up the whole Rocky Horror soundtrack as well- but something about a cross-dressing Tim Curry just didn't fit into the blog theme. Just know I'm singing the whole score in my head as I write this, yupp I really am.

1 Year House Anniversary

We have now been in our house for one whole year. Wowsa! In that year we haven't done much except repaint the basement a gorgeous shade of dark blue and turn it into a theater. All the appliances are working, although some better than others. We love our next door neighbors on one side, ignore the ones on the other...and the house two down has the trashiest people I think I have ever imagined. At least this gives the good neighbors and us something to be entertained by and bond over! So all in all not bad. When we move in the future can I take this house with us- please? Olie and Frank might be confused otherwise, hehe. And in other news Sarah's parents are visiting in less than a week, gotta get cleaning/organizing!

Puppy Eyes...

Nobody gives those sad puppy eyes like our Olie pup, but Frank our pug just has these big old bug-eyes that are so ugly that they are almost cute, and they just break your heart. Thats why we were so concerned when he started squinting his left eye and then stopped opening it at all a day later. He has been to the vet and we found out he has a corneal ulcer so he now has a bunch of drops and medicine he hates having to take. At his re-check the vet had nothing new to tell us other than another follow up is needed. Either it is healing in an odd way or there are serious problems deeper in the eye and we will have to see a specialist. I am totally freaked out and I don't want anything to happen to my little pug-a-chug. Pugs have eye problems all the time of course, but I don't want anything bad to happen to our lil guy pug- and if the vet doesn't even know whats going on- thats pretty scary!

4 Points From Perfection

My grades are rolling in now and I had all As except one class. Usually I would not blame a teacher but this one just really grates my cheeses! It was an online class and the teacher would vanish for a few weeks at a time and never had ANY interaction with the students, didn't respond to emails, etc. She changed the class schedule more times than I can count, and it was a real drag putting up with it. I ended up being 4 little points away from a perfect A in the class, which isn't bad under the circumstances- but c'mon- 4 teeny tiny points. We should have all been given As just for putting up with her crap. My grades are still good- great even... but I know I earned and deserved an A in this class. Time to put on my big girl panties and get over it, but I'm still irked.

A "Wii" Bit Of Fun

Yesterday morning was a Saturday free of school and stress, and I hadn't planned much of anything and wasn't sure what to do with myself. I thought about just sitting in bed with a book and being as lazy as possible- my way of saying "hooray for me". But thankfully about 30 minutes after I woke up my next door neighbor called asking if my hubby would help her with some tech homework and if we would both like to come over and play with them on their new Nintendo Wii. I hadn't hung out with my neighbor/good friend in awhile, so I was excited to get together because we always have fun. However, I previously knew I was not a fan of the Wii.

Well.. I'll just summarize and say I now REALLY want a Wii! How did playing in on the gigantic screen at my inlaws hold no interest for me and playing at my friends was just a hoot! Vincent has been wanting a Wii since they came out but I've been the mean wife that says "no way". Perhaps now one will be hiding under the tree for him. If I could figure out a way to get one for him and not have him know that would be AWESOME! But we both go over bills and purchases together so he would know. I'll have to think on that.

Spring Semester is Finished!

So I was pretty proud of my self when I finished up one of my Psychology courses two and a half weeks early. That was certainly a change from my previous semester when I was cramming last minute-literally- to finish my Psychology work. I actually really got into Psychology and I can see why so many people I know have chosen it as their field. Luckily for me, teaching requires lots of Child Psychology and I'm absolutely loving it!

I finished my other courses about a week early, or half a week depending on the class and its own schedule. This is such a change from my usual procrastination- what is wrong with me? So I'm giving myself the official "Smarty Pants Blog Badge". No such thing exists as far as I know, so I created my own:

My grades will not be posted for awhile because as I mentioned I finished early and so I have to wait for the final results. But I can tell you it is looking really good right now. I know I have one perfect A, and I suspect 3 others to follow as soon as some work has been graded by the teacher. I understand that it is time consuming to look over a bunch of written work, but one of my current professor's is unprofessionally slow at getting things done. I guess there goes another note in my "To Do and Not To Do when Teaching" mental notebook.

Three full weeks off and I almost don't know what to do with myself- and then I look over into my Art Studio-Nook and I can hear my recently-ignored art skills screaming "LET US OUT". I have some new supplies I haven't even broken in yet! So put the books away cause the old artsy Sarah is here to play!
